Whumpril 2024, Day 15 Prompt- Mind Games @whumpril

It's hard to ignore him sometimes. Because he'll creep around the edges of Percy's dreams, he'll alter things ever so slightly.

It makes Percy on guard- he's aware something is going on but he can't tell what. And Kronos finds delight in this, in hiding just at the outskirts of this demigod's dreams.

In playing mind games that the boy just barely remembers when he wakes up. Enjoys seeing the anger, the terror, sadness, all of it. He enjoys seeing the boy break again and again.

one thing abt thalia and percy's dynamic that is often overlooked is that percy was punished for the same things thalia was rewarded for. there's a prophecy abt one of the big three kids? percy is treated like a liar and thief and ppl refuse to talk to him. thalia? everyone respects her (including gods!) and assumes she'll do a great job saving the world. thalia is accepted immediately at camp and threatens the place percy spent two years proving he deserves. percy wants to go on a quest to save his friend? he's an attention seeker and glory stealer. thalia? well, she's the obvious choice. thalia comes up w a plan to win capture the flag that's basically "leave everything to me" and percy comes up with a plan that's basically "if you see a good opportunity, go for it," but percy is viewed as the control freak.

what i'm saying is percy had every reason to resent thalia and he didn't. he chose not to. and thalia had every reason to look down on percy and didn't.

even when they were fighting, i never saw it as a power struggle. they were being pit against each other, and instead of doing what everyone expected them to (kronos was fully expecting thalia to kill percy), they chose to love and respect each other. because they're not their parents. they're just two kids who started cracking under the pressure but refused to break.

I can’t find my post!!

I made a post awhile ago about a Percy Jackson x Danny phantom xover but I never read the books….

I’m about to finish blood of Olympus and now I have a starting line!!!

Same premise, Danny goes to camp half-blood (post boo) and no one can figure out whos kid he is and Percy is being held back by Annabeth before he charges to Olympus and chews out the gods for not claiming this whole ass 17 yr old.

Not only that but the kid refuses to believe he has a godly parent.

Nico keeps getting weird vibes from this guy, like he’s dead but not????

Meanwhile Danny is avoiding Rachel Dare like the plague and is getting increasingly annoyed by these assholes saying his parents lied to him.

Meanwhile clockwork is waiting for the perfect moment to strike. (He’s Danny’s ghost dad ever since his amulet fused with Danny’s core)

One night at dinner when EVERYONE decided to show up a glowing watch shines above Danny’s head.

Percy looks like he’s about to blow a geyser while Annabeth and Chiron are going through all their knowledge about the gods to figure out who tf it is.

because THAT wasn’t possible.

Meanwhile there’s no cabin for any time gods yet so he’s stuck in the Hermes cabin for a bit.

The next day after a rousing game of capture the flag that Danny spent trying to get ahold of the old stopwatch.

As everyone returns to camp there’s a giant commotion….caused by the giant cabin looming over the Zeus cabin with the Symbol of a watch at the top, and a glowing blue man reading a book.

Danny yells “Get down here you asshole!”

CW appears in front of Danny

“Please tell me I’m wrong” Danny groans

“About~~~” CW Grins looking towards Percy and Annabeth

“Well if it isn’t my favorite grandchildren! Thanks again for disposing of that old remnant, for some reason that old shell keeps reforming”

Chaos ensues

Clockwork (formerly chronos) offers Danny some popcorn.

(They thought he was a Hephaestus kid but it turns out he’s just a mad scientist)

12 year old Percy having to hike all the way to LA from Long Island in 10 days while having to fight monsters with barely any food or drink supply because his deadbeat dad is scared of his little brother, just to find out 4 years later that he could have just hired some emo kid from a casino and a goat with reed pipes and anxiety to help him open up a bunch of rocks in Central Park.

how do you think Jason felt knowing he looked like Luke Kronos? how do you think this kid, this child who’d been raised to be a soldier, who is so fundamentally good and tries so hard, felt when he realized why the greek campers were uneasy around him.

not because he was roman. the greeks didn’t care about that. but because he was tall. lean. blond hair, blue eyes. facial scar. brotherly disposition.

someone who’d looked just like Jason had been a leader at this Camp. someone who’d looked just like Jason had been a brother here. someone who’d looked just like Jason had taken their trust and shredded it, had turned their siblings against them, had sabotaged their home, had caused so many deaths in his war to destroy Olympus, to be noticed by his father. (something Jason also desperately wants.)

Hera had sent Jason to replace Percy—the leader, the hero. but how was he meant to do that when all any of them could think when they looked at him was traitor?

i need to kiss his forehead, smooth out his furrowed brows, tell him it's gonna be ok, play with his hair, caress his face, wipe his tears away, tuck him into bed, have him take a nice warm shower, use face masks on him, make hermes pay, take him to therapy, make him lunches, enroll him into college with me, bandage his wounds, compliment his arms, reassure him his scar isn't ugly, introduce him to taylor swift and boy genius, read him bedtime stories, bake brownies with him, visit his mother with him, prove the prophecy wrong, tell him he's doing great sweetie, get him away from kronos, fight kronos, help him mend things with annabeth, hold him close while he vents, encourage him to explore other hobbies, be his support system

im actually so glad that luke tried to recruit percy. it never made sense to me in the books that luke would straight jump to needing to kill percy when, in my mind, he would see percy to be the same as thalia. used by their dads and having strong anger against the gods.

esp after that scene where percy asks if the gods should be scared of the demigods as well. luke must have felt as if he was looking into a mirror. but of course, percy's opinions changed over the course of his quest, so he didn't join luke. still, im so glad he asked percy, because that's what feels right for his character.
